Sometimes I wonder... Other times I know.

A car link
I just found another cool car-related link. This is the Ralph Lauren Car Show MFA Boston 2005. Some very impressive collection of cars including a Porsche 959.

There's nothing like...
... a weekend away from it all to get things back into perspective. A week is too long, a month puts you out of the loop(s).
Yea right!
While I love them all, I can make the odd exception.

Analysis Paralisys
It amazes me how often a design is proposed, contention exists but finally consesus is built and everyone finally agrees.
It becomes evident that the agreement was superficial by those who protested the most, when, at the slightest questioning, the entire design must be revisited from the begining.
Say what you mean, mean what you say.

Robert 'the demo guy'
I met Robert Hess during my business trip to San Fran last Thursday. Besides DrinkBoy we talked quite a bit about a cool PDC demo I have in mind... stay tuned :)
Quick as a Ferrari
Dave Quick is a good friend.
As an intern, I was submitted to the "blue eyes of death" which only became more frequent when we worked on the same feature team (him: dev, me: PM).
My favorite "Quickisms"..
- I want the most difficult decision of my day to consist of choosing between the RED, BLUE or YELLOW umbrella in my tropical drink at the pool.
- You know what's better than {insert a measured unit of something good here}.... {n+1 measured units of said good}
Anyway, we share a common interest. Sports cars....while he's a Ferrari fanatic (and a previous 328 owner), I have my own special brand and unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the Greg Whitten's garage tour.
Great pics Dave!
Reflecting on last week...
The last couple of weeks have been pretty intense at work. Which is good, I'd rather be busy than bored.
I was in San Francisco on Thursday (up at 3:00am and back home at 10:30pm.. ugh) and met with some very interesting customers. Maybe you'll see them at PDC :)
My team is engaging more and more with teams and customers and its getting very exciting to see what feedback we get on our API's, tools and overall programming model.
My "partner in crime" is a co-worker by the name of Dharma Shukla. I'm dropping his name here for two reasons: (1) because he's a good guy and you'll be hearing a lot about him soon and (2) to see if he reads this :)

TiVo & Comcast!
Sweet! I love my TiVo (which is sometimes looked down upon within the Microsofties) and I'm pretty psyched to see what they do with Comcast. I'm on DishNetwork right now, but looking for a reasonable HD signal selection with integrated TiVo... which is the reason I didn't go with the new Comcast boxes (not TiVo) and didn't want to cough up the time/energy/money to do Media Center 2005 (although, it was very tempting).
Does Blogger RSS work?
How can blogger not support RSS? Yuck!... of course, thanks to google, I found egg-minus.com

Garbage
On April 8th, girlfriend Lilian, roommate Madhur, and former co-worker Craig are off to see one of my favorite bands... Garbage.
I used to run one of the largest garbage fan sites on the internet back when I was in University exploring video compression. I used to have all of their videos online for download (this was WAY before any of the copyright issues were a big deal). The band seemingly didn't mind, as I emailed them with links to the site numerous times and asked if it was ok. Perhaps Silence is Golden?
NHL whinny cry babies
I'm disappointed that the NHL decided to cancel its entire season for the first time in history. Being a Canadian, I think its one of the best sports to play and watch. But what really annoys me is that the (Canadian) news continues to report how the two sides (players and owners) are still talking to each other, as if to give us some glimmer of hope.
I ask only one thing. Tell me when the next season starts or when the new league is formed. The game isn't very popular throughout the US, and this lockout is just perpetuating its demise. Sad really.

So here I am...
I've been playing with the idea of creating a blog for a while now, but always thought I'd never have time to keep it current. Well, I'll give it a shot.
I work for Microsoft Corporation as a Program Manager in a "yet to be officially released technology".
It'll be a part of WinFX and talked widely about in the not too distant future. I want to start a blog for those who want to have a place to talk about it, provide samples and generally get more information... but not yet.
I think this technology will likely be the most common subject of my posts, but who knows :)
